Songlines of Freedom
We can go down into the ground
like worms eating whatever is found
when we could just as easily
fly into the sky.
Like winged serpents
or songbirds
freed from a cage
singing and laughing
in the invisible joy
above and all around us.
But all is not lost when we fall from bliss.
As emotional beings
we can only reach
life's joyful heights
after plumbing
its miserable
pits.
To unfurl the wings of your soul
remember that your heart is a diving bird
that can swim to the bottom
of every river or ocean of emotion
just as easily as it can fly
into the deep blue sky
and higher still until
you're orbiting beyond
the edge of space and time.
